In this fun Halloween-themed ceramics project, students will explore the process of slip casting by learning how liquid clay (slip) is poured into plaster molds to form a hollow shape. Students will use ceramic carving tools to cut-out unique faces and patterns that allow light to shine through when a tea light is placed inside. This project introduces important ceramic techniques commonly used in ceramic production, while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and artistic expression as students design a custom Jack-o’-lantern.
