Our Studio

Tucked behind our home in Royal Oak, a bright red barn has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind multimedia art and design studio.

Part workshop, part classroom, and part creative playground, the barn is a place where ideas are meant to be shared.

It’s a little unconventional, a little messy, and full of possibility—a place where art, craft, design, and technology come together, and where anyone can discover the joy and empowerment of making something with their own hands.

Originally from Bolivia, Andrea earned her degree in Industrial Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2002. Her career has centered on product design and development, working with both emerging brands and established companies across a wide range of industries including housewares, furniture, toys, and children’s products. With a broad understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and the journey from an initial idea to a finished product, Andrea brings a practical and thoughtful approach to every project.

Jason grew up in Metro Detroit and studied Contemporary Crafts at the College for Creative Studies. He later spent several years working in the skilled trades in California: including welding, electrical, and construction. This hands-on experience led him to teach model making at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he and Andrea first met. A few years later, Jason returned to school to study computer science, graduating from UCLA in 2008 with a degree in Cybernetics. Today, Jason works remotely as a Senior Software Engineer, bringing together his background in hands-on fabrication and technology – all while fueling his lifelong curiosity for understanding how things work and figuring out how to build them.

After more than 20 years in California, Andrea and Jason moved to Michigan with their twin daughters in 2021. They were thrilled to discover a home with a giant red barn in the backyard—an unexpected opportunity to finally bring a long-held dream to life.

Ever since the day they met, they dreamed of creating a studio where anything could be imagined, designed, and built by hand—a place where ideas could wander freely and curiosity could lead the way. Today, that dream has become a reality: a creative space dedicated to learning, making objects that spark joy, and bringing people together around ART.
